Young Musician Course

(Designed for 6-8 year old students)
The Young Musician Course (YMC) is a great way for children to begin a lifetime enjoyment of music. The curriculum is specifically designed for 6-8 year old beginners. Musicianship skills are developed in group lessons held once per week. Teachers motivate and guide students using excellent materials and Yamaha's systematic approach to keyboard playing. Music Skills Development is the main focus of the YMC. Through a variety of activities, each student is able to experience and enjoy: ear training, singing, solo repertoire, ensemble playing, keyboard and music theory.

Keyboard:  Keyboards are used as the learning tool in the Young Music Course. These Yamaha digital instruments produce an incredible variety of sounds. This motivates the students and expands their musical horizons- whether they are playing solo or in an ensemble. A keyboard instrument is required at home for practice.

Creativity:  YMC children have fun as they learn to play motivating music in the books, though the development of keyboard harmony and arranging skills, YMC students also enjoy playing and creating their own music. Skills such as these are valuable and transfer to many other facets of learning.

Timely Education:  YMC is tailor-made for children 6-8 years old.  Research by the Yamaha Music Foundation shows that although the ear develops more quickly at a very early age, six to eight year olds have rapidly developing ears and finger muscles. The curriculum and teaching methods of the course make the most of this stage of development.
