Few other life experiences are quite as magical as the first time one makes music. Regardless of age, anyone can acquire the skills to play, create and share music--this is the founding philosophy of the Yamaha Music Education System.
Musica Academy specializes in the internationally renowned Yamaha Music Education System. This system, created in 1954, is the product of extensive research and development by experienced teachers, physicians, psychologists, and musicians. It was first introduced to Canada in 1966. Currently, there are 16,000 locations in 40 countries around the globe, with 22,000 teachers teaching over 800,000 students. More than 4 million people have graduated from the Yamaha System.
The Yamaha Education System produces successful musicians by focusing on the following:
Timely Instruction
Yamaha Music Foundation has completed much research illustrating that a childˇ¦s ear develops most rapidly between the ages of four and six (as shown in the graph below). Since hearing development is so closely related to learning music, this is the ideal time to start developing music skills.

With each age group, the teaching approach, pace, and the learning sequence varies. The Yamaha approach guarantees maximum effective for our student’s learning.
Comprehensive Programs

Our courses focus on developing well-rounded musical skills. Instrumental performance, ear-training, rhythm-training, harmonizing, improvising, composing, note-reading, sight-reading, score writing, music appreciation, and music theory are all part of our education method.
All course materials are composed uniquely for Yamaha. Different styles of music are incorporated into every curriculum, including classical, jazz, rock, latin, ballads, and folk.
Yamaha courses are taught the same way in more than 40 countries internationally. Our curricula and teaching methods undergo constant revision and evolution, to reflect the latest developments in music education. All Yamaha teachers undergo rigorous and strict training to ensure uniformly high quality of teaching around the world.
Group Lessons

Yamaha courses are taught as weekly group lessons. At each lesson, students have an opportunity to show progress in the company of supportive classmates. Technical obstacles are overcome as a class, and a strong sense of musicianship and sportsmanship is developed. In our positive group environments, students are motivated to focus, improve, and move onto the next level of learning as a team.
Repertoires and accompaniments are recorded. During the lessons, teachers are free to check on the performance of each student, make appropriate suggestions for improvement, and give praises for a job well-done.
Group lessons are fun! In these lessons, solo, unison, and ensemble playing are encouraged. Our students love performing as small bands or orchestras for special projects, in-class recitals, and year-end concerts!
